Pete McGuinness

Since 1987, Pete has been an active presence on the New York City jazz scene as a multi-Grammy nominated jazz arranger, award-winning jazz vocalist (past semi-finals of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocal Competition) and formerly a long-time freelance jazz trombonist, having performed with many of the renowned jazz orchestras including those of Maria Schneider, Woody Herman, Jimmy Heath, and others. Pete leads his own 17-piece band The Pete McGuinness Jazz Orchestra which has recorded three CDs for Summit records, each having received rave reviews and widespread radio airplay. He also is co-leader of and arranger for the jazz vocal group The Royal Bopsters, which frequently performs in the NYC area as well as abroad. His music has been performed by jazz bands throughout the US as well as in Europe, Mexico, and Japan. Pete is a tenured Associate Professor of Music/Jazz Studies at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.
